On Thursday 12th February 2015 the Department of Psychology and the Whitaker Institute at NUI Galway will host an event for all health care professionals, researchers and policy makers with an interest in prescription contraception.
The main focus of the event will be to present findings on the barriers and facilitators of prescription contraception use from an HSE Sexual Health & Crisis Pregnancy Programme and Irish Research Council funded project entitled ‘Adherence to and uptake of hormonal and long acting reversible contraceptives in Ireland’. The findings will be presented by Dr Gerry Molloy and Leigh-Ann Sweeney, NUI Galway. The key findings explore the psychosocial experiences of contraception use amongst Irish women.
Other invited speakers include Professor Roger Ingham (Director of the Centre for Sexual Health Research at University of Southampton), Ms Helen Deely (Head of the HSE Sexual Health & Crisis Pregnancy Programme), Dr Miriam Daly (Director of the Women’s Health Programme at the Irish College of General Practitioners), and Assistant Professor Sheila Ryder (School of Pharmacy at Trinity College Dublin).
The event will also consist of interactive workshops to give an opportunity for all attendees to come together and share their knowledge and experiences in the area of prescription contraception.
Practitioners can claim internal and external credits (CPD) for their attendance and contribution to the event.
The event is supported by the Whitaker Institute at NUI Galway, HSE Sexual Health & Crisis Pregnancy Programme, and the Irish Research Council.
