AGENCY TO DISTRIBUTE 20,000 ‘THINK CONTRACEPTION’ PROTECTION PACKS AT OXEGEN 2009
July 7, 2009 – The Crisis Pregnancy Agency today announced that it will distribute 20,000 ‘Think Contraception’ Protection Packs at this year’s Oxegen festival, as part of its campaign to encourage correct and consistent contraception use among sexually active adults. Each Protection Pack consists of a drawstring bag containing a sexual health education leaflet, an individually boxed condom and the Oxegen site map with safety tips from festival organisers MCD.
The Agency has been working in partnership with MCD to raise awareness of sexual health at music festivals each summer since summer 2003. The Agency has distributed over 150,000 ‘Think Contraception’ Protection Packs at Oxegen since 2004.
Director of the Crisis Pregnancy Agency, Caroline Spillane said: “The Oxegen festival gives the Agency a great opportunity to deliver sexual health messages to large numbers of 18-24 year olds. By distributing ‘Think Contraception’ Protection Packs, we aim to provide education to festival goers about the importance of using contraception correctly to help prevent an unplanned pregnancy and protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The Agency would like to thank MCD for its continued support of our work.”
Justin Green of MCD added: “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Crisis Pregnancy Agency in addition to working closely with the Road Safety Authority and Drinkaware as part of our health and safety initiative for Oxegen to ensure fans have both a safe and fun festival.”
