Research Awards and Scholarship Scheme 2007

A Research Awards and Scholarship Scheme was set-up in 2007 for individual’s working in academic institutions, not-for-profit research organisations and non-governmental organisations (with a research capacity) wishing to undertake a research project in areas related to the mandates of the Crisis Pregnancy Programme.

The following applications were successful under the Awards Scheme 2007 and are continuing in 2009:

Dr Elizabeth Nixon (Principal Investigator), Trinity College Dublin for a project titled ‘Discourses on Sexual Responsibility, Fatherhood and Masculinity among Young Men from Lower Socio-Economic Groups’

Dr Abbey Hyde (Principal Investigator), University College Dublin for a project titled ‘Parents’ Approaches to Educating their Pre-Adolescent and Adolescent Children about Sexuality’;

Dr Maria Lohan (Principal Investigator), Queen’s University Belfast for a project titled ‘Ready to Reproduce? Teenage Men’s Attitudes and Decision Making in Relation to an Unplanned Pregnancy’.

The following application was successful under the Scholarship Scheme 2007 and continuing in 2009: Ms Catherine Conlon, UCD was awarded a Research Scholarship to pursue her Doctorate on Concealed Pregnancy.
